The Long Beach Poly football program is dedicated to the education of its athletes first. The football program adheres to the strict CIF student eligibility policy, as does any other high school sports program. At Poly though, this isn't enough. The football program also implements a "Academic Coach" to further aid any student athlete that may find themselves in academic trouble. This includes: tutoring, college prep counseling, and SAT/ACT pre-testing. The program is very successful for those students who participate. Our athletes often seek advise from the academic coach, even though they are academically sound in their studies and grades. In fact, a student athlete in the football program who uses this free service, who has a academic plan for high school, and studies and reads, will have a better chance than that of the average student who studies on their own in getting into college.
