Chris Love


Freshman Defensive Coordinator

As a graduate of Poly (class of 1991), Coach Love began his football career here. After earning many accolades such as All-American and MVP during his high school years, he moved on to Long Beach City College to do the same. In 1993, he was voted Top Transfer as he earned a scholarship to attend Washington State where they won the 1994 Alamo Bowl. He finished his inter-collegiate years at Cal State Northridge in 1995 as a 2nd Team America West Conference Player while pursuing his Humanities degree.

After pursuing a professional career as a football player for many major organizations, serving the public for several years in the Safety Industry, and playing for a few Semi Professional football teams, he began his coaching career at Poly in 2006. After being the Head Coach of the freshman team at Artesia High School, at Poly he has been the Defensive Coordinator for the Frosh team, the Defensive Coordinator for the Junior Varsity team, and Assistant Defensive Line coach for the Varsity team.

As a resident of Long Beach and alumni of Poly, Coach Love takes pride in being a source of knowledge and support for the youth. He has coached several years for the Long Beach Jr. Jackrabbit Pop Warner and also coached the Long Beach AfterShock Women’s Professional Football (2002 AFWL Champions, 2003 & 2004 AFC West Division Champions) and the California Quake Women’s Professional Football team (2005-2009).

He and his wife Jhamara are proud parents of Ceejhay (13), Zenobia (5) and Johnathan (3) , all future Jackrabbits, and Saidah (Poly class of 2011).
