Chris Lewis C/O 1998: Most Memorable LBP Football Experience:

Chris Lewis has been called the most prolific quarterback in the history of LB Poly football. Born on December 13, 1980 to Merrill and Steve Lewis, Chris grew up in a home that placed priority on both academics and athletics. This priority towards academics and athletics would become the precursor to Lewis's career as a Jackrabbit at LB Poly, The Home of Scholars and Champions.

As a student athlete at Poly, Lewis excelled in both football and volleyball. As a Jackrabbit football player, during his first year as a starting quarterback, he threw for 400 yards and seven touchdowns in one game. By the conclusion of his career as a Jackrabbit, Lewis threw for 8,616 yards and set the California State career record with 107 TD passes. He ended his Poly career with a CIF Championship and a record of 36-5. He was named CIF Division I Offensive Player of the Year, 1998 Gatorade National High School Football Player of the Year, and was a finalist for the Franklin D. Watkins Award, which is awarded to the top African-American student athlete in the country. As a member of the Jackrabbit Boy’s Volleyball team, Lewis was a two-time All American and won a gold medal at the 1998 United States Junior Olympics.

After graduating from LB Poly, Lewis chose to attend Stanford University. At Stanford, his proficiency for heroics such as game winning touchdown passes created a college career that left electrifying memories for teammates and fans alike. In 1999, Lewis was a member of the Pac 10 Rose Bowl Championship team. In 2000, his last second touchdown pass versus USC helped Stanford maintain its three year winning streak against the Trojans. In 2001 Lewis was named MVP of the Stanford Bowl game versus Georgia Tech. His top ten ranking in almost all major quarterback statistics during his Stanford career helped to ensure that he would sign with the Arizona Cardinals upon his 2004 graduation with a degree in Urban Studies.

Chris is very active in the Long Beach Community that he credits with supporting him and helping guide him throughout the years. He currently serves as a board member for the Long Beach Boys & Girls Club and National Alliance of African-American Athletics. He is the co-founder of the Long Beach Young Professionals Network (LBN) and has partnered with fellow Poly teammate and alum Darrell Rideaux to spearhead Christmas toy giveaways and other Poly fundraising events. Chris currently resides in Long Beach, CA and is a Commercial RE Broker for Cushman & Wakefield where he manages RE transactions for multi-million real estate portfolios. For his dedication to the community that guided him and his excellence in academics & athletics, we are proud to induct Chris Lewis into the LB Poly Football Hall of Fame.
